2 Days Intensive Bonsai Workshop


Hello Bonsai enthusiast,

For years, I have dedicated my passion and focus on bonsai. During the time, I have spent my energy in mastering the techniques, and drawing out my artistic side to bring out the individual natural beauty of every bonsai. This will be my second time that I will feature the intensive workshop in spring, summer and fall for those who share the same enthusiasm and fulfillment as I do in bonsai art. At the end of the session, each student will possess an in-depth knowledge on how to justify and practice caring for different species as it live through different phases in each season throughout the years. Below are some of the highlights of what to expect for each seasonal workshop.

Spring workshop - May 19-20th, 2007

  • Proper way to re-pot and to choose the right pot for the bonsais
  • Different propagation techniques such as air-layer, cutting, etc.
  • Grafting method to enhance the overall balance of the tree
  • Unconventional bonsai design and style approaches
  • Wiring and pruning techniques
  • "Spring Work" demonstration and exercise on Pine, Azalea, Shimpaku and Maple i.e. pull needle, select branch, pinching, etc.
  • Shohin bonsai "Yamadori style Shimpaku" technique
  • Roots over rock style bonsai using Maple
  • Steps on preparing your bonsai for the show

Summer workshop - July 21-22nd, 2007

  • Proper way to re-pot and to choose the right pot for the bonsais
  • "Summer Work" on Pine, Azalea, Shimpaku and Maple i.e. decandle, cutting back branches, pinching and defoliage.
  • Specialized techniques on tropical bonsais
  • Wiring and pruning techniques
  • Unconventional Bonsai design and style approaches
  • Shohin bonsai "Yamadori style Shimpaku" technique
  • Roots over rock style bonsai using Ficus
  • Steps on preparing your bonsai for the show

Fall workshop - September 29-30th, 2007

  • "Fall Work" on Pine, Azalea, Shimpaku and Maple i.e. cutting back branches and selecting buds for next year.
  • Selective wiring and pruning
  • Unconventional Bonsai design and style approaches
  • Shohin bonsai "Yamadori style Shimpaku" technique
  • Dead wood carving by hand and power tools
  • Steps on preparing your bonsai for the show
